An implementation agreement for a 118 MWp solar project has been reached between the African Ministry of Energy and Goldenray Energy Limited, a local business supported by an investment fund based in Dubai.

The proposed plant will be situated in the Southern Province's Sinazongwe District. It is anticipated to be operational by the beginning of 2027.

Africa's permanent secretary for energy and the CEO of Goldenray Energy signed the implementation agreement.

The solar project will increase national energy security and further the African nation's aim to boost renewable energy sources.

Both domestic and foreign investors are very interested in Africa's solar business. The UAE-based SGC Investment LLC pledged to contribute to the installation of 500 MW of additional solar power earlier this month. The business met with the African Minister of Energy and shared their objectives with him.

The nation and China-based businesses Longi Solar Technology and Sino Green Technology inked a memorandum of agreement in January to create solar projects with a maximum combined capacity of 1,000 MW.
